Hello there fellow traveller.

I’m Antoinette. I am a clinical psychologist in private practice, a wellness enthusiast, foodie, wife, mom, pug-mom and seeker….

I wear sneakers or sandals most of the time, T-shirts and comfortable clothing are my haven (I sit for many hours in a day, and I have an allergy to tight fabrics and all clothing designed for the purposes of impressing. You will also never see me in a skirt).

I have a Master of Science degree in clinical psychology, and I have been a clinical psychologist for 15 years, and have been in private practice for 10 years.
My therapeutic approach is predominantly person-centered psychotherapy, with some psychodynamic processes and some cognitive behavioural therapy added to the mix when it is indicated.
Sometimes I like to add an existential approach when it is needed, because we all believe in an Anchor (irrespective of its name or shape).
In my practice I work mostly with women and mothers , and I am deeply passionate about the unique and deeply engrained challenges often faced by women – childrearing, juggling the many, many hats women wear on the daily, the relentless mental load, the homemaking, the never ending food-prep, and somewhere in between that trying to fit in being someone’s wife/life partner and someone else’s daughter.
I like providing a safe space for women to feel seen and believed, a quiet space for women to figure out which way and what now.

Psychotherapy can often feel like a daunting and intimidating thing to go and do, but it does not have to be. I am not smarter than you or better than you, I just have a few tricks and a bit of extra information I picked up during my 9 years of training, and my 15 years of experience in practice. Mostly, psychotherapy is a relationship founded in familiar and gentle conversation, that aims to lead you to where you want to go.

In addition to my work with women and mothers, I am also the co-creator of Wholistic Mind-Body Integration Therapy with my friend, colleague and Yoga-teacher, Cassandra at Yoga Steps Studio.
Together we created a therapeutic approach that includes both mind and body to facilitate healing on a deep and sustainable level (read more here).

I also author atricles on Substack for women and mothers, that speaks to the very core of the many tasks, roles and challenges faced by women and mothers, and the effect it can have on the overall mental health and wellbeing of a woman. Articles are written by me, and I interveiw other learned professional women to provide insights, perpectives and information on psychologically relevant topics faced by women and mom’s such as lifestyle, physical and mental health, finance, wellness, spirit, and all things family, feminine and modern day homemaking.

I practice from my home, and as such if you ask anyone who has been a client of the practice they may tell you that my work space is neither loud nor clinically quiet. Instead, there is an encapsulated quiet that is surrounded by home life – children playing, dogs barking, maybe a vacuum somewhere or a lawnmower in the distance.

Psychotherapy is a calling, but my first love is and will always be culinary arts. If I am not working or spending time with my family, I am in the kitchen. To me there is something deeply nostalgic about the safety of clanging of pots and pans, and the smell of something baking in an oven, or bubbling on a stove that resonates with my spirit.
